Figure is a series of humanoid robotic platforms developed by Figure AI, Inc., a robotics company founded in 2022 and headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. The series comprises three commercially disclosed generations: Figure 01, Figure 02, and Figure 03. The most recent release, Figure 03, was announced in October 2025 as a general-purpose humanoid oriented toward both enterprise and eventual home deployment. Figure 03 was recognized as one of Time magazine's Best Inventions of 2025.

Version history
Figure 01 (2023)
Figure 01, the company's first commercial platform, was unveiled in 2023. Figure 01 was designed as a full-scale bipedal humanoid targeted primarily at enterprise industrial use. It stood approximately 168 cm tall and weighed approximately 60 kg. The platform was demonstrated performing basic locomotion and manipulation tasks, and formed the basis of the company's initial customer pilot programs.
Figure 02 (2024)
Figure 02, unveiled in 2024, was a substantially refined successor. Improvements included increased runtime through battery redesign, higher payload capacity, refined manipulation dexterity, and improved vision. Figure 02 was deployed under an announced commercial pilot with BMW at the automaker's Spartanburg, South Carolina facility, marking one of the first enterprise pilot deployments of a humanoid robot at an automotive manufacturer outside Tesla.
Figure 03 (October 2025)
Figure 03, launched in October 2025, is the current model in the series. The platform was positioned by Figure AI as a general-purpose home humanoid, marking the series' explicit repositioning from enterprise industrial toward the eventual home market. A notable engineering shift in Figure 03 is the replacement of the injection-molded plastic body panels used on Figure 01 and Figure 02 with removable, washable textile outer layers. The textile shell system was developed in collaboration with fashion designer Janis Sne. The design decision reflects an emerging pattern in humanoid platform design, in which platform designers are moving from hard plastic housings to soft textile layers for reasons of thermoregulation, servicing, and aesthetic reception.
Figure 03 was recognized as one of Time magazine's Best Inventions of 2025.
Specifications (Figure 03)
- Height: approximately 168 cm (5 ft 6 in)
- Mass: approximately 60 kg
- Outer layer: removable, washable textile shells (designed by Janis Sne)
- Manipulation payload: sufficient for typical household object handling
- Sensor payload: vision, force/torque, tactile at hands
- Compute: Figure-developed neural inference stack
Use case
Figure 03 is positioned by the manufacturer as a general-purpose home humanoid, marking a repositioning of the Figure line from its earlier enterprise industrial framing. The intent is that Figure 03 will be capable of performing a range of household-adjacent tasks including materials handling, light cleaning, and eventually food preparation adjuncts, in addition to the industrial pilot use cases the earlier generations were used for. The transition from enterprise to home framing places Figure in a distinct market position relative to Tesla Optimus (broadly general-purpose but not specifically home-anchored) and 1X NEO (specifically home-anchored from launch).
Deployment status
Figure 03 is ramping production at Figure AI's BotQ facility. As of mid-2026, no public buyer price or public sales channel has been announced for Figure 03, and the platform is not available for consumer purchase. Enterprise pilot programs continue from the Figure 02 era; Figure 03 units are understood to be entering these pilot programs as production ramps.
Estimated cost per unit
Figure AI has not publicly disclosed unit pricing for any Figure model. The company's public communications through mid-2026 have emphasized production readiness and pilot deployments rather than a consumer pricing announcement. Industry estimates for Figure 03 are speculative and are not published here.
